The Tom & Jan Richardson Family Endowment for Roscommon Area Historical Society will provide funding to assist with the costs of maintaining the Society’s historical buildings and grounds.
Tom Richardson and his daughter Kate Ellis, established the Fund not only to create a lasting legacy for the Richardson family but to also honor and remember their wife/mother Jan Richardson. Jan, a retired teacher, enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm for teaching and embraced every opportunity to learn something new.
The Richardson family has a deep-rooted history in Roscommon County including a named schoolhouse that operated from 1914-1955. The Richardson Schoolhouse, now a museum, houses artifacts from the lumbering era, former businesses and families as well as school memorabilia.

The Roscommon County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the Roscommon Area Historical Society (RAHS) has been awarded a $261.00 grant. Funding for the grant was provided by the Tom & Jan Richardson Family Endowment for Roscommon Area Historical Society.
This grant was the first made from the new endowment fund at the Community Foundation which was established by Tom Richardson and his daughter Kate Ellis in memory of their loving wife/mother, Jan Richardson.
According to RAHS President Ethan Brand, the grant was used to make repairs to the front porch of the Gallimore House and apply a fresh coat of paint to the Silsby building. Brand said the RAHS is grateful to the Richardson family for supporting its mission to protect and preserve Roscommon’s History.
