Jim Mahoney Memorial – Music Program Support Fund

James E. Mahoney was born in 1935 and lived in Roscommon for more than 50 years. He and Susan M. Venus were united in marriage in 1957 in Redford.


Mr. Mahoney was a choir teacher at Roscommon High School for more than 30 years, and retired in 1989. He was founder and former director of the Mikenauk Chorale and former music minister for St. Michael Catholic Church. He was a member of the Michigan Vocal Educators Association and the High School Teachers Association.


The Mahoney Family established this Fund and is to support the music programs at the Roscommon Middle School and High School, which may include, but not be limited to, the Band, Choir, Jazz Band and Steel Drum Band.

2024 – Roscommon Area Public Schools – $400.00 for Beetlejuice field trip.

2023 – Roscommon Area Public Schools – $500.00 for Les Misérables field trip.

2022 – Roscommon Area Public Schools – $600.00 for Wicked field trip.

2021 – Roscommon Area Public Schools – $955.00 for Concert Choir Uniforms.

2019 – Roscommon Area Public Schools – $306.00 for RHS & RMS Choirs’ Wicked and Finding Neverland trips and Choir Shirts.

2013 – Roscommon Area Public Schools – $367.00 for Choir Code Celebration and piano.

2010 – Roscommon Area Public Schools – $250.26 for RHS Choir.
Roscommon Area Public Schools – $47.00 to purchase bass trombone for use in High School and Middle School program.
