Forest & Rita Hacker Family Sportsmanship Scholarship

Rita Hacker was born in Detroit in 1924. She had lived in Detroit, Utica and Houghton Lake. She and Forest G. Hacker were married in 1947 in Detroit. Mr. & Mrs. Hacker owned Hacker’s Marina, Hacker’s Resort and Hacker’s Yamaha & Honda in Houghton Lake since 1965.

The Forest and Rita Hacker Family Sportsmanship Scholarship was initiated by Randy and Sharon Hacker to honor Randy’s parents, Forest and Rita Hacker. The scholarship is intended to support student athletes in the Houghton Lake Community School District who have demonstrated a high regard for sportsmanship. Student athletes in their sophomore, junior or senior years are eligible for nomination for the award which will be awarded in their senior year. Students can be nominated for the scholarship with a letter of support provided by their athletic director, principal, superintendent or a coach.
