Roscommon County Lakes & Rivers Fund

Roscommon County’s lakes and rivers are an integral part of the inherent beauty of “up north” in Michigan. Established in 1998, this Fund is devoted to projects, causes or activities serving to protect, improve or increase appreciation of the natural environment and clean water of Roscommon County’s lakes and rivers.

2024 – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 26-03 – $500.00 for Boating Safety Classes.

2023 – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 26-03 – $1,000.00 for VHF Portable Radio Project.

2022 – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 26-03 – $1,200.00 for Boating Safety Classes.

2019 – Roscommon Area Public Schools – $706.00 for RHS Higgins Lake Water Quality Sampling & Analysis Program.

2018 – Houghton Lake Lake Association – $430.00 for Houghton Lake Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention and Education.

2017 – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 26-03 – $596.00 for support for Projector and Computer for Boating Safety Education.

2016 – Friends of Trestle Park – $560.00 for 2016 Trestle Park Summer Concerts.

2015 – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 26-03 – $570.00 for Placemat Distribution Project.

2014 – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 26-03 – $447.54 for support for GPS for Facilities.

2013 – Richfield Township Public Library – $294.24 for support for Fishing Gear for Loan.

2012 – Richfield Township Parks Department – $482.00 for grant in support for Lk St. Helen Pier & Kayak Launch.

2011 – Roscommon Baptist Church – $300.00 for Hooked for Life: Restocking the Ponds.

2010 – Roscommon Township – $227.00 for 2010 Fall Grant for Lakeview Park Dock extension.

2009 – Roscommon Area Recreational Authority – $229.00 for 2009 Fall Grant AuSable River Center Meeting Room Furnishings.

2008 – Muskegon River Watershed Assembly – $525.00 for Houghton Lake Wild Rice rehab and educational project.

2007 – Marguerite Gahagan Nature Preserve, Inc. – $800.00 for Upper AuSable River Quality Monitoring Program.

2003 – Roscommon Area Recreational Authority – $300.00 for Emergency Door Exit Project.

2015- United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 2603 receives grant from RCCF for GPS Units for Facilities

The Roscommon County Community Foundation (RCCF) recently provided a $747.54 grant to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 2603. The grant was awarded to assist with the purchase of three new GPS Units for Facilities.  The John Morley Family Endowment for Higgins Lake granted $300.00 and the Roscommon County Lakes & Rivers Fund assisted with a grant of $447.54.

The project enabled the Coast Guard to supply 3 volunteer vessels with high quality GPS units that will be used to assist in search and rescue efforts on the lakes of Roscommon County.
