The Roscommon County Community Foundation (RCCF) recently awarded a $2,500.00 grant to the Roscommon-Crawford Foster Closet. Funding for this project was provided by the Roscommon County Kellogg Youth Fund ($2,000.00) and one of the donor advised funds at the Community Foundation ($500.00).
The Roscommon-Crawford Foster Closet provides clothing and furniture to children living outside of their parental home. Children are often removed from their homes with little to no notice. Having furniture readily available relieves the financial burden foster parents and relatives are faced with giving them a better opportunity to focus on the children’s needs. This grant helped provide the Foster Closet with 7 twin mattresses, 5 bunkbeds, 5 highchairs with trays, 4 dressers, 3 crib mattresses, 2 trundle beds, 2 junior chairs and 1 triple bunkbed. According to Director Lisa Wolf, they were able to help about 112 children in 2018.
