The Roscommon County Community Foundation (RCCF) is delighted to announce that the Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency was presented with a grant of $1625.00 to help with the mental health of senior citizens. Funding for this project was provided by the Roscommon County Health Improvement Endowment Fund and the Roscommon County Tobacco Settlement Endowment Fund.
This program is set up to mail out brain toolkits with different activities for the seniors. Sadly, due to the pandemic the social distancing has been hard and lonely for the elderly, and this is harmful for their mental health. The mailers have different puzzles such as sudoku or word searches or art supplies to improve mental health and take their mind off the pandemic. The program also has mailers for the caregivers which includes puzzles and resources for caring for someone with dementia.
Want to get involved? You can support the Roscommon County Health Improvement Endowment Fund by sending your donation to RCCF at P.O. Box 824, Roscommon, MI 48653 or by visiting our website www.myrccf.org/give/online to donate.

The purpose of the Toolkits is to help alleviate some of the stress with less social interaction. Some of the items included in the boxes included a deck of cards, word puzzle books, markers, spot the difference book, and a Wheel of Fortune card pack. The caregiver toolkit includes Chicken Soup for the Caregiver’s Soul, lace cards, aqua painting, photo album and sticky notes.
