Sixty volunteers of all ages bridged the gap between generations to assemble 125 care packages, or “Sunshine Bags”, to be delivered to 3 area assisted living facilities. YAC and NEMCSA’s AmeriCorps Senior Volunteer Program collaborated with veterans from the Roscommon County Veterans Coffee Hour, Boy Scout Troop 955, Trail Life USA and American Heritage Girls.
Volunteers worked together to pack bags full of puzzle books, grip socks, handwritten greeting cards, personal care items, stress balls, and other items generously donated by the community.
In April, YACers visited Mission Point in Roscommon, Horizon Senior Living in St. Helen, and King Nursing & Rehabilitation in Houghton Lake, to personally deliver a bag to each resident. Each home was full of smiling residents and sunshine!
