Income is used to provide scholarships to Roscommon County area students entering in a health career education/training programs.
“Big Buck Open” Athletic Scholarship
Income is used to assist Gerrish-Higgins Roscommon high school students to attend summer athletic camps. The Fund will be used to provide a maximum $100.00 Scholarship, with the total number of scholarships determined by funds available.
The Jack Danieleski Scholarship
Income is used to provide scholarships for graduating students of Houghton Lake and Roscommon High Schools, and/or to high school graduates that are primarily those related to members of the Knights of Columbus Council #6548.
Kelly Dunmire Memorial Scholarship
Income is used to provide a freshman scholarship to a female Roscommon High School graduating senior who participates in sports, has a financial need and intends to major in the dental or medical field.
Fidelity Chapter #50 – Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship
Income is used to provide a scholarship for a Roscommon High School graduate with affiliation to the Masonic Temple.
Ruth and Ralph Fisher Scholarship
Income is used to provide a freshman year scholarship for a graduating student from either Roscommon or Houghton Lake High school. The student recipient must have demonstrated a financial need, a C+ (2.25) or better GPA, and a history of Community Service.
Evelyn Fraser Scholarship
Income is used for scholarships for Roscommon High School graduates.
Gerrish-Higgins Roscommon Alumni Association Scholarship
Income is used for scholarships for Roscommon High School graduates.
The Rex and Arlene Gillen Scholarship
Income is used to award 2 – 4 year renewable scholarships for Houghton Lake Community School graduates residing in Denton and Roscommon Townships . The student recipient must demonstrate a financial need, a C+ (2.25) or better GPA, and prove residency in Denton or Roscommon Township.
Char Goddard Memorial Scholarship
Income is used to provide an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from Roscommon High School.
Forest and Rita Hacker Family Sportsmanship Scholarship
Student athletes nominated for this scholarship must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior of Houghton Lake High School. To be nominated, a Letter of Support is submitted by the Athletic Director, Principal, Superintendent and/or coaches.
Robert A. Hess Memorial Scholarship
Income used to award an annual scholarship for graduating students of Roscommon High School interested in pursuing a degree in law and/or the legal field.
HLHS Class of 1983 Memorial Scholarship Fund
Income is used to provide scholarships to graduating seniors at Houghton Lake High School. Recipients must have a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Houghton Lake Rotary Club Memorial Scholarship
Income is used to provide one or more freshman year scholarships for a graduating student from Houghton Lake High School who have demonstrated a strong history in community service and academic record.
Mike M. & Patricia M. Ignat Scholarship
Income is used to award an annual scholarship for graduating students of Houghton Lake High School, interested in pursuing a degree in Hospitality or Dietetics.
The Mr. J’s Buckeye Nuts College Scholarship Fund
Income is used to support second (Sophomore), third (Junior) and fourth (Senior) year college educational costs, for Roscommon Area Public School graduates, with special consideration given to students attending Ohio State University, Bowling Green State University (Ohio), Central Michigan University, University of Cincinnati (Ohio), Michigan State University or the University of Michigan.
Robert J. Kunik Memorial Scholarship
Income is used to provide a freshman year scholarship for a graduating student from Houghton Lake High School who has shown an interest in pursing an education in the Arts, including English, Communication, Literature, Music, Writing/Creative Writing and Theater/Drama.
Layton International Scholarship
Income will be used to award a Scholarship to graduates of Roscommon High School with a GPA greater than 2.25 who plan to study outside of the U.S. Preference given to students studying in Asia. All majors of study will be considered.
Kimberly Mires Athletic and Music Scholarship
Income is used to assist Roscommon Middle School (grades 5-8) female students to attend out-of-county personal advancement camps for athletics or music.
Beverly Nester Memorial Scholarship
Income is used to award a freshman year scholarship at an accredited trade school, junior college or four year college for graduating students of Roscommon High School with an interest in the automotive industry. The student recipient must have demonstrated a financial need and a minimum C+ (2.25) high school GPA.
Ralph Ostling Memorial Scholarship
Income is used to award an annual scholarship for graduating students of Roscommon High School. Student must have a minimum C+ (2.25) high school GPA at time of application to qualify.
Patriot Scholarship Fund
Income is used to award an annual scholarship for graduating students of Charlton Heston Academy. Special consideration will be given to students with financial need. Student must have a minimum C+ (2.25) high school GPA at time of application to qualify.
Roscommon Rotary Club General Fund
Income is unrestricted and applied to the greatest needs in the Higgins Lake / Roscommon area, as recommended by the Roscommon Rotary Club. Fund is currently used for scholarships.
Roscommon Soccer Teams Scholarship
Income is used to provide freshman year only financial scholarships for players on the Roscommon High School Soccer Teams. To be eligible, the graduate must have been a member of the squad or manager for three (3) years. The scholarship will provide assistance with tuition, books and lab fees for a freshman to attend an accredited trade school, junior college or four year college or university within two years following graduation from Roscommon High School.
Andrew Schmidt Trades Scholarship
Income is used to provide scholarships to Roscommon County area students entering into a skilled craft field of study through an accredited trade/technical/vocational school, college, university or community college. Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in a qualified apprenticeship program.
Ford and Marguerite Silsby Scholarship
Income is used for scholarships for Roscommon High School graduates.
Jim “Smitty” Smith Athletic Fund
Income is used to assist 8th-11th grade Roscommon High School students attend athletic summer camps.
Steuernol and McLaren Funeral Homes Scholarship
Income is used for scholarships for Roscommon High School graduates from the St. Helen area.
Larry Sumerix Memorial – Summer Music Scholarship Fund
Income is used to assist Roscommon Middle and High School students to attend Summer Music Camps and enrichment programs, based on student / family need.
Richard & Margaret Torongo Memorial Scholarship
Income is used to assist 5th – 8th grade Roscommon Middle School students to attend athletic or fine arts summer camps.
Michael R. Treml Memorial Athletic Scholarship
Income is used for an annual college freshman scholarship, presented to a graduating student from the Roscommon High School. The qualifying student must have participated in at least two high school athletic sports programs and have maintained a C+ (2.25) or better GPA.
William C. Williams (Class of 1950) Memorial Scholarship
Income is used for scholarships for Roscommon High School graduates who will attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
The W.H. & Betty J. Scott Memorial Scholarship
Income is used for scholarships for Roscommon County students entering or enrolled in a vocational, technical or trade school program.
Clyde F. Shaltz Memorial Scholarship Fund
Income is used to provide scholarships to Roscommon area high school graduates in their second (Sophomore), third (Junior), and fourth (Senior) year of college; and have been accepted into a teacher education program leading to elementary or secondary teacher certification in Michigan. Special consideration will also be given to Roscommon Area Public School graduates, students attending Northern Michigan University, and students which demonstrate the greatest financial need.
