The Roscommon County Community Foundation is pleased to announce they have awarded their fourth #CommunityChoice grant to Children’s Bereavement Network to support Camp Live, Laugh, Love. Children’s Bereavement Network was nominated by the community and ultimately received the most “likes” resulting in a big win for their organization. Children’s Bereavement Network was presented with a $1,000.00 grant funded by the Ambassador Club Fund.
Camp Live, Laugh, Love is held over the course of a weekend and is designed to help children and teenagers ages 7-16 learn how to grieve. The camp provides a safe place for participants to interact with peers who have experienced similar losses. Campers can express their feelings of grief, learn coping skills and most importantly, begin a healthy healing process. One of the best parts about Camp Live, Laugh, Love is that it is free to attend. Children’s Bereavement Network receives generous donations and grants to help fund the camp each year.
Camper Sam says “I had a lot of fun!” His favorite part of the camp was campfires, the rock wall and having the opportunity to create a decorative stone in honor of his loved one. Campers are also able to take home a binder with recognition of achievements and awards and a handmade bear which is created from a loved ones piece of clothing. Many campers return to Camp Live, Laugh, Love in later years to become a Teen buddy. Teen Buddies meet campers when they arrive and spend the weekend participating in activities and crafts with them.
