Sara Humphreys, 35
Reference Librarian at Kirtland Community College;
Connections Director and Office Manager at Markey Church
Sara Humphreys has built a life of service and community involvement in Roscommon County. Originally from Saginaw, Sara graduated from Alma College with a degree in education and began her career as a teacher in Saginaw County. She moved to Houghton Lake after accepting a teaching position at Houghton Lake Community Schools. After three years in the classroom, Sara transitioned to a role at Markey Church, where she manages communication, weekly worship media, and livestreams, while also supporting church ministries and working closely with members and leaders.
In 2022, Sara expanded her professional journey by becoming a Reference Librarian at Kirtland Community College. In this role, she assists students and faculty in utilizing both print and digital library resources, collaborating with staff to ensure student success. Her work at Kirtland and Markey Church reflects her deep commitment to education, community support, and service.
Sara lives in Roscommon and finds joy in playing board games, spending time with friends and family, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, visiting Houghton and Higgins Lakes, and exploring new places through travel. Her passion for community engagement was instilled in her from a young age by her parents, who were deeply involved in serving others and encouraged Sara and her sister to give their time and energy to benefit those around them.
“When I moved to the area, I was met with so much support from my work colleagues who helped me make connections in our community. There are so many genuine and talented people in our community who work hard to make Roscommon County a better place for everyone. I am thankful for the leaders I’ve met along the way who have invested in me and supported my work.”
Sara’s dedication to serving her community through non-profits and other avenues has allowed her to develop skills and form relationships that have enriched her life. Her work continues to impact Roscommon County, where she proudly supports The Community Impact Fund.
