Kalsa Parker Browning is dedicated to inspiring people to explore the outdoors and embrace the wonder of nature. With a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Iowa State University, she has devoted her career to environmental education, working with various youth development non-profits and a university extension system. In these roles, Kalsa has facilitated environmental education, outdoor recreation, and conservation initiatives for both youth and adults. She believes that the natural world serves as a vital resource for learning, fostering connections, and providing respite. Her mission emphasizes the importance of hands-on experiences in nature, encouraging individuals to get involved and engage with their environment. Through her work, Kalsa aims to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the outdoors, helping others discover the transformative power of nature and inspiring them to protect the natural resources they care about.
Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Kalsa and her family were drawn to northern Michigan for its incredible wealth of natural resources. She is captivated by the abundance of hiking trails, beautiful forests, and stunning lakes and streams in the area. Kalsa is eager to contribute to the ongoing progress of expanding recreational opportunities in the community and enhancing the Gahagan Nature Preserve as a premier destination. Her goal is to help transform it into a landmark attraction where community members can participate in events, deepen their understanding of the environment, and engage with nature. By fostering connections and providing enriching experiences, she hopes to support the Preserve’s mission of environmental education and conservation, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub for learning and outdoor exploration for all.
