Jory Klumpp, 38
Recreation Director
Jory Klumpp, a Houghton Lake native and 2004 graduate, has always had strong ties to his community. After graduation, he moved to Grand Rapids to start his family with his wife, whom he met during high school. Together, they have two sons, Deslyn (15) and Roman (9). In August 2021, Jory returned to his roots, taking on the role of Recreation Director for the Roscommon Area Recreation Authority (RARA) and managing the CRAF Center. Under his leadership, the CRAF Center has seen a notable increase in memberships and a surge in youth programming, including early release programs, 4-H Boys Basketball, free open gym sessions for kids 17 and under, a free archery program, youth wrestling, and little league baseball clinics.
Jory’s passion for youth development is deeply rooted in his experiences growing up in the community. He is actively involved in Charlton Heston Academy (CHA), where his wife teaches, and has coached middle and high school basketball, varsity football, and an after-school elementary basketball program. His commitment extends beyond sports, as Jory is also an active member of Life Church in St. Helen. He serves on the board, leads the men’s ministry, volunteers in the children’s church, and contributes in various ways to support the church’s mission of loving God and loving people.
Jory is inspired by leaders and mentors such as Sue Jock, the Head Chair of RARA, whose selflessness and resilience motivate him, and Pastor Bryan Clark, whose compassionate and enthusiastic leadership emboldens him. Above all, Jory finds strength in his wife, Victoria, whose love and joy keep him grounded.
“I love that our community is like a family, where people genuinely care about their home. I am passionate about sports and giving back to the youth. Roscommon County is an amazing place to grow up, and I want to be part of building the next generation.”
Jory is supporting the Roscommon County Recreation Fund.
